Experience South Tyrol (King of the Alps) May 31st- June 8th 2020
After the success of the last few year’s road trips here we are again with another awesome South Tyrol Experience, searching out the finest white water the region has to offer before loading up and heading for King Of The Alps one of the best European kayak festivals. This year we have even added an extra day for even more fun.
We will start the week by collecting you from the airport. You can take either Ryanair or Aer Lingus to land you safely into Munich Airport. Once the van is loaded we set off in search of whitewater.
We will again base ourselves in the Oetztal region, with easy access to a whole host of areas. We will enjoy some big volume fun in Austria.
A relaxing evening in the Aqua Dome Thermal spa awaits to reenergize and top up the batteries before heading over the mountain pass to the sleepy town of Moos which come alive once the festival is in town.
On the Italian side of South Tyrol we will be paddling the Passer river and partaking in King of the Alps one of Europe’s best kayak festivals.
King of the Alps is one of the most inclusive events in Europe with something for everyone, whether its the mass start Chaos or the picturesque setting its a great place to be. Share a drink with some of Europe’s top paddlers or take home the crown its entirely up to you.
For 2020 King of the Alps is also the European Championships for extreme racing so surely an event not to be missed.
We have put together an intermediate Whitewater Trip suitable for confident Grade 3 paddlers with a roll.
The trip will bring with it fun, education and some relaxation we want to both inspire you and let you experience what we love about the region.
We will work with you to set out personal goals and aims to work on during the week with a structured action plan available to take home to help improve all aspects of your paddling.
After meeting you in Munich airport and a drive south, we will be starting the trip with some Austrian Excitement. Paddling the River Inn and the River Oetz. Home of the legendary Wellebrucke Rapids and Sickline World Championships. We will be based in Haiming next to the River Inn.
We will have spare time whereby you can hire bikes or head over to area 47 for some fun in there water park this will be discussed on arrival.
After a visit to the Aqua Dome, (Thermal Spa) We will continue over the Timmelsjoch Alpine Road into Italy. At over 2500M its one of the most beautiful driving routes.
This short hop drops us into Moos and Merano, for some paddling on the Passirio RIver. With soo many classic sections it will be tough to pick a few. We will scout out the Marathon Race course. Looking for clean lines before heading back to Moos for the Video Show. The king of the Alps Entry is included as part of the trip. As Saturday comes so does the race day, with the option to take part in this exciting race, or hang on at the back for a nice paddle down the section. The afternoon takes us to the Finals, which is a spectacle to watch. (or participate if you were fast enough) Before the Saturday Evening King and Queens Party where you can rub shoulders and share a drink with some of the worlds top paddlers.
Sunday gives us a day to explore the region and paddle another of its classic sections.
